Panoramic viewing
Open up to the skies – while shading the harsh Australian sun. With the optionally available electric panoramic sliding roof, the sky is the limit. When you want it, the tinted glass protects you from intense sun, while the electric sun blind closes the roof completely.
Unique GTI branding
GTI. Those three letters mean so much to so many drivers. It’s why the new Golf GTI features the much loved logo pride of place on the front doors, and flashes of iconic GTI red can be seen on the brake callipers. These touches nod to classic GTIs of the past, showcasing a modern take on a true driver’s car.
The making of a legend
The Golf GTI sports a 2.0‑litre turbocharged four‑cylinder engine with 195kW and 370Nm of torque tuned for strong, consistent pull up to 4500rpm. It reaches 0‑100km/h in just 5.9 seconds, with explosive power and a flat torque curve that means there’s always more when you need to open up on the highway.
Lightning transmission
The 7‑speed dual clutch transmission shifts in an incredible 200 milliseconds – quicker than any manual. Of course, Sport mode is its time to shine, holding gears to the redline, downshifting multiple gears under heavy braking and blipping the throttle to match revs.
Banish understeer for good
An electronically controlled front differential pairs with brake‑based torque vectoring to send power to the wheel with the most grip. This eliminates understeer and helps you to exit corners with ease.
Your ride, your way
Adaptive Chassis Control works alongside lowered sports suspension to give you total control. On a rough road? Simply soften the dampers for maximum comfort. Then stiffen them on winding roads for balanced cornering and maximum exhilaration.
Where brain meets brawn
The Golf GTI features a central Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which ensures the adaptive dampers, EDL, steering and brakes work in perfect harmony together – leaving you free to have all the fun.
Voice assistant
Talk it out with your GTI. You can easily work your infotainment system hands‑free with the optional IDA voice assistant. Whether you’re looking for a number in your contacts, a new place to eat or the right temperature for your drive, just say "Hello IDA" to start a conversation. IDA also knows whether the driver or the front passenger is speaking, so if you say “IDA I’m hot” it knows where to direct the air con.
Keyless Access
Your key stays in your pocket with Keyless Access for locking and starting. The Golf GTI opens automatically as you approach the door handle and a simple button push is all it takes to start your engine and get moving.
Enhance your experience
Get the full picture with a convenient windshield Head‑Up Display and an Area View 360‑degree camera system to help with those tight maneuvers. And this optional package sounds as good as it looks, too, with an immersive 12‑channel Harman Kardon sound system also included.
Front Assist
The Front Assist1 emergency braking system detects pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles, warning you of potential accidents or applying the emergency brakes to prevent an impact.
Side Assist
Side Assist1 recognises dangerous situations when changing lanes, warning you with a light on the exterior mirror that shows a vehicle is in your blind spot or approaching quickly from behind.2.
